While the CHCAC provides services to child abuse victims, we strive to reduce the need for services. The CHCAC offers various prevention programs that help drastically reduce the number of victimized children in our community.

The following prevention programs are currently being offered by the CHCAC; however, if you have a need for a specific topic please contact the center to discuss further.

For Youth

  • NetSmartz® Workshops are educational programs that teach children ages 5-17 about online safety and digital citizenship. These programs help children learn how to protect themselves and their friends online. This program was designed by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
    • Free | Varies, 30-45 minutes | Ages 5-17
  • KidSmartz is a child safety program that educates families about preventing abduction and empowers kids in grades K-5 to practice safer behaviors. This program offers resources to help parents, caregivers, and teachers protect kids by teaching and practicing the 4 Rules of Personal Safety using classroom lessons, at-home lessons, parent tips, and fun printable activities. This program was designed by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

For Parents & Caregivers

  • Stewards of Children® Darkness to Light‘s flagship, evidence-informed prevention training to help adults prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training features survivor stories, experts in the field, and other concerned individuals all providing practical guidance to prevent child sexual abuse.
    • $10 | 2 hours
  • Internet Safety: This workshop outlines safety and security risks on the internet and how caregivers can implement healthy boundaries to protect children online no matter how they access the internet. This program was designed by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
    • Free | 45 minutes

For Professionals & Youth Serving Organizations

  • CHCAC 101 is a basic introduction to the Children’s Advocacy Center as a community resource. Learn what a child can expect when they walk through our doors, what services we provide, and how we respond to child maltreatment in our community.
    • Free | Flexible, usually 30-60 minutes
  • Tour The Center: We understand the importance of sharing our mission of providing a safe and supportive environment with everyone in our community. Walk through the halls of our agency while learning about our history and the critical services we provide to children in our community. Please note: due to the sensitive nature of our work, you must have an appointment to tour the center, walk-ins are not accepted.
    • Free | Flexible, usually 30-60 minutes

Outreach Initiatives

  • By growing and expanding our outreach services, CHCAC aims to equip the local community to identify, report, and aid child abuse victims. In order to continue providing critical services that achieve our mission community support is essential. Please contact the center to request an outreach event.
