A forensic interview gives a child a safe space to talk, without pressure.
When there are concerns about child abuse in Bradford and Sullivan Counties, investigators may refer a case to The Children’s House so a child can receive a forensic interview. Forensic interviews are provided only through referral from law enforcement or Children and Youth Services.
Interviews take place in a calm, child-friendly setting designed to help children feel comfortable and supported. The child speaks one-on-one with a specially trained forensic interviewer who remains neutral and non-leading, allowing the child to share information in their own words and at their own pace.
Partner agencies observe the interview from a separate room using closed-circuit technology. This allows professionals to hear the child’s account without crowding the room or requiring the child to repeat their experience multiple times.
The goal of a forensic interview is simple: to listen carefully, respect the child’s voice, and gather information in a way that minimizes stress and reduces additional trauma.
