Child abuse impacts more than one child. It affects entire families.
At The Children’s House, Family Advocates walk alongside children and non-offending caregivers throughout the investigation and healing process. Their role is to provide steady support, clear information, and connection to resources, so families are not left navigating a complex system on their own.
Family Advocates help by:
-
Advocacy
Working closely with caregivers and the multidisciplinary team to ensure the child’s voice and needs remain at the center of the process. -
Emotional Support
Offering compassionate, consistent support as families move through investigations, court processes, and recovery. -
Information and Guidance
Helping caregivers understand what to expect, sharing updates related to the case when appropriate, and connecting families to helpful community resources. -
Meeting Basic Needs
Assisting families in accessing essential resources and services during times of financial or personal hardship, so immediate needs do not become barriers to healing.
Family Advocacy is about more than navigating systems. It is about ensuring families feel supported, informed, and empowered as they move forward.
